Week 9 Update

Poolster’s

I told Percy I’d get this update in on time this week!  This week turned out to be decently eventful, but we missed what could have been the best week ever.  6 people could have gone down, but the Raiders pulled it off in over time thanks to Janikoski’s junk.  No but seriously, if anyone saw that game you saw Janikowski’s man hood beaking out ALL game.  I felt like I was stuck in the J-High chapel facing do south at a spread eagle Mark Udarbe.  Unfortunately, this was 60 minutes worth.

Bulge

Anyways, two others lucked out on a goal line stand as time was expiring with the Falcons and one person was saved by his Holiness, Brett Favre, in the Metrodome.  Brad Childress was about to get a lot more anger headed his way this week if the Cards won that one.

On a side note.  I think everyone should take the time and read Bobby and Nick Lamb’s comments in weeks 6 and 7/8 respectively.  These are our friends, or at least gambling partners.  We have awful friends.  Nick and Bobby, you two at the very least will share the award for worst comment of the season, if not ever.  Also, thank you very much for the pictures you sent me, Nick.  I do truly appreciate it and they are good.  I’ll make sure to incorporate them at some point, however; nothing comes close to your brothers beautiful mug.

Quick Recap

7 people are still around
4 people have a strike against them
2 people were knocked out
no one gained a strike
3 people are flawless
14 people are F’in Out

Pick of the Week

I’m going a little selfish this week.  This week I’m taking the crown with my pick of the Vikings!  I would have given this award to Bobby, but if anyone witnessed that Chefs/Raiders game it was too awful to be handing out awards to.  I think Janikowski’s balls are really to blame here though.

I know, that's about how exciting the pick of the week was this week.

Worst Pick of the Week

It was really a toss up since two people lost on upsets.  This week however, goes to Kyle Schultz.  Anytime you get blown out by the Browns…someone has to pay the consequences.  We all know Tom Brady isn’t going to suffer the consequences.  He is just going to dump it off like a pregnant ex GF and Kyle, this week, you are that pregnant ex GF.

Elimination Time

A two fold serenade!  We would like to wish Kyle Shultz and Dan Stone adieu.  This really is their final goodbye this year because they did not decide to join the Re-Up.  See, sometimes gambling even more does pay off.  The two best QB in the league couldn’t muster up anything for these partygoers so their time is over after 8 short weeks.  We will take their $40 total dollars in stride and wish them the best in their future endeavors.  Perhaps there will be more room in the pool next year.  Your F’in out!

THE RE-UP

The Re-Up this week was much more boring than last week and is even more boring then the main pot even though we have more people.  We can again thank the Browns for shaking things up a bit.

Rundown
All 10 people remain
6 people are flawless
4 people have a strike against them
1 person gained a strike this week

Pick of the Re-Up Week

Goes to Pat Kelly.  A tough pick and a goal line stand helped keep Pat from being a Donk this week.  However, his Seahawks did not have the same outcome.  Congratulations Pat, you are not a Donk, but your football team surely is.

Worst Pick

Goes to the only person that lost.  Michael Zahler.  What can I say that hasn’t been said before?  I’ll just flash Janikowski’s junk one more time for good measure.  That should about sum up this pick.

So there we have it guys.  Just hit the half way mark of the season.  Congrats to everyone who is still around.  It is definitely one of the toughest years in recent memory, believe me, cause my bookie is thrilled.  Our courage level for those still around I would say has to be close to this young girl.  Ah...so inspiring.

Also, if you are in the Re-Up I have only received payment for 5 out of 10 of you.  Payment is due on Monday so make sure to get it in ASAP.  I know ya’ll are good for it.  Purcell, don’t make me call your mother again.  Also, the site has been updated a bit in efforts to show this league isn’t going belly up quite yet.  Profiles have been updated and a gem of a picture has been added.

Week 7 and 8 Update

Poolsters,

Thank you again for your patience.  A lot of travel was going on and at this time I do not have a laptop.  The rest of the time was being spent fighting with the insurance company who are clearly winning.  Without further delay this will be a two fold update for week 7 and 8.  Mostly, because we won’t have a lamer week than week 8

Week 7
9 people are still around
6 people have a strike against them
4 people were knocked out
1 person gained a strike this week
3 people are flawless
12 people are F’in out!

Week 8
View above.  This week was about as entertaining as “Yes Dear” on TBS.  Although the Chiefs did at least make us sweat it out.  It also had this guy rooting against them even though he picked them in the re-up.

Week 7 was a surprisingly exciting week for the Poolsters.  4 went down in flames thanks again to the Saints who have sent many home this year and in part to the most points the Raiders have put up in about 2 full seasons, in just one game!  The most picked team this week was the Ravens who kept us all on pins and needles by barely beating the Bills.  The second most picked teams was the Saints who got destroyed by the Browns in New Orleans.  It was about as devastating as Katrina, only worse.

Pick of the Week Time!

This week’s pick of the week goes to Kyle Shultz and his pick of the Chiefs over the Jaguars!  A truly great pick Kyle.  Again Bobby, no complaining.  At no point in time will I ever give the Seahawks a pick of the week.

Worst Pick of the Week!

This week’s terrible pick goes to Sam Heinlein!  Sam is use to being in the pick of the week column where he was looking to get the award named after himself.  However, his man’s game style finally burnt him this week when he bet on the woeful Cowboys.  Don’t ever trust in Tony Romo; he hasn’t done anything.  However, in Kitna I trust and with another 15 minutes under his belt he may have pulled it off.  Maybe…
Kevin Clarke gets an honorable mention because his team lost so horribly it would be wrong for him not to be at least uttered in the same breath.  Kevin, was this pick about as satisfying as Randy Moss’ last meal with the Vikings?

Elimination Time

This week we say goodbye to a couple Poolsters, but hopefully they won’t fret too much with a re-up looming.  We say goodbye to Kevin Clarke, Neil Jubitz, Drew Millar, and Michael Zahler.  It hurts to say goodbye, but at least two of them went out in SUUUUUPER CUTE fashion!  I would like to thank Neil and Z for losing in the same weeks with the same picks.  It all brought a tear to our eye….as well as dollar signs.  Kevin, you going out in week 8 would have been sooooo much sweater, well, to at least me.

More about week 8

Like I said earlier, this week was disappointing.  It had so much promise with that Bills-Chiefs game, but came up a couple field goal attempts short.  Well, what am I saying?  Come on!  It’s the Billls!  Was anyone actually worried even when it was close?  We all knew they would find a way to lose.  A tie would have been a nice touch, though.  So the Chiefs were the most picked team with 6 of 9 people taking them.  The rest went to the Rams, Pats and Bucs.

Pick of the Week

Sam Heinlein with his pick of the Rams.  Way to make up for the dog poop week last week.  Did I mention this week was lame?

Worst Pick of the Week

Bobby, because he was the only undefeated to not nut up and join the re-up.  The Holiday Bowl party this money is going to better be amazing.

Without wasting my time anymore on week 8 here are the standings and picks:

THE RE-UP

As I touted before anyone joined.  Same rules as usual just starting a lot later and only 10 bucks.  This pot has absolutely nothing to do with $420 on the line.  The standings after 1 week were not pretty either.  With only 11 participants 5 had losses and 2 forgot to pick entirely after saying they were interested.  Both were given ample time and reminders as well.  Since Pitt got embarrassed and were the favorite on Sunday night.  So did Neil and Justin.

Most picked team in the Re-Up was also the Chiefs with 5 people taking them.  The Jets caused the most legitimate losses this week; especially because Mike McCarthy laid down and begged to lose and the Jets still couldn’t win.

Quick Rundown
11 people remain
6 people are flawless
5 people have a strike against them
no one is F’in out! Yet…….

Pick of the Re-Up Week

Goes to Kevin Clarke with the Rams!  Too bad you weren’t still around to use that in the main pot.

Worst Pick

If Sam is getting the weekly picked after him this guy is getting the Goatsy pick after himself.  The Donkey award goes to Ryan Purcell again.  Don’t pick the Seahawks.  Yes, even against the Raiders.  I’ll mark this as a worst pick of the week regardless of the outcome.  This may also be renamed the Brad Childress award shortly.  Nope, I take that back.  It WILL be the Brad Childress award.

Thanks again guys for being patient with me.  I only got a few comments from you, but I promise it shouldn’t be that bad again. I also haven’t ran off with the money.  That doesn’t mean I haven’t lost it to my bookie, but I haven’t ran off anywhere. If you joined the Re-Up make sure your money is in by week 10!  As always, pick early and often if needed.  Talk to you all very soon.
